This is what happens when I go out of town for a few days; the blogs get ahead of me. At least the pages are all up for the next couple of months!

Visiting and doing some business (including a 450-mile goat exchange) in Chehalis. A lot of fan readers and writers were there. One of them said that new or odd things just didn’t sell; I asked how they thought the old things with the large, developed markets got there in the first place.

They were making fun of the teens and less-educated women watching Twilight. This from a bunch of sci/fi and fantasy fans, who often have a hard time telling genre from writing. At least the Twilight fans are reading something, and being enthusiastic about an author. The gang then turns around and watches genre tripe like The Dark Knight. Par’m me for not getting the difference.

A few of the people there did get that the novel is actually non-fiction; it’s based not on what somebody has put together from familiar forms but on what s/he has experienced or extrapolated or just figger’d out.

The usual sad bunch of excuses for Health Care as she exists today; why are those who are so convinced that Jesus is guiding their every move so likely to be those who ask questions such as, “Well, what about immigrant workers?”

They always forget their demi-god said he’d be back in their lifetimes — and that he added “if you do unto the least of mine, you do unto me.” In other words, every man, woman, child, animal and tree is a personification of their demi-god, so they’d better make nice to everybody, regardless of who or where or what. He’s keeping notes, and they’re going to Fail.
