“Stange” does translate as “bar,” but that’s not me. That’s the Australian doctor Craig Hilton. And now he’s a  cartoonist!  “Doc Rat” is his animal take on humans under medication.

Chaplain Stange (who is always referred to as a “Field Bishop”) is one of the voices of reason so rare in a war. His driving gloves and cigar were taken from a Catholic chaplain I knew while I was on duty at the army’s Madigan Hospital.
