I’m not sure how these guys are gonna do the punishment, but that knife I’m seeing is not a good sign… for Herr Doktor that is.
And this is where the good doctor is going to learn what mothers do to the people who hurt their children.
oh my goodness … you are going there.
*hands Donna an extra large tub of butter++ popcorn*
The creator of the piece is not always the judge of its worth. You are plumbing depths in this one that are frightening
I think Jathis has it. The so called Docktor has it coming, and how! Let me get my pop corn. I have season salt if anyone is interested.
This one is one of my all time favorites — a truly memorable storyline and a superb portrait of how the evil often see themselves as doing good. Classic psycho. I still have the comic itself around, carefully preserved.
Everybody: Yes, now it’s popcorn time. I was satisfied drawing the ending – but I got letters from people who gagged over their own joy at it, as in, “I’m not supposed to be that happy over THIS!”
My goodness! I love this story arc~ it’s always interesting to see characters you know and love respond to highly personal and emotionally charged situations. Peach shows us another side of himself.. mesmerizing. I also love your super expressive lettering and word bubbles! Brilliant as always.. glad this one is about to get what’s coming to him, from the mothers of those poor kids~
Thank you! I must have had fun doing this, or it wouldn’t have come out so well. Some of my readers weren’t happy about how glad they felt that he got what he deserved.
You guys got it. I remember being riveted to the pages while reading this. I couldn’t stop turning the pages and as soon as I was done, I immediately re-read it slowly to get what I missed the first time thru. I have enjoyed all your work Donna, and this storyline is one of the best. You showed us true horror, helped us recognize it in its early stages and helped us get to the other side intact. Thank you for your courage in writing this. It couldn’t have been easy.
Thank you very much. This really is one of my best. It’s certainly my favorite cover art.
Every one who got to read this in paper format, I envy you. This is all new to me, shortly after “the musical” issue, my FLCBS stopped carrying The Desert Peach.
Hi, folks — this one was harsh to write, as you guessed. No, in so many ways it was hard to write — but not about the subject. This sort of brute was in the news.
I also remember this page – and I swore. I knew, KNEW what was coming, and that anything the horsemen could do was pitifully unimaginative compared to the MOTHERS. Yes, yes they do have a sense of justice, and you don’t dare unleash them except on those who deserve it. Meanwhile, the Peach got pushed over the edge, and Herr Doktor himself knotted his own rope. But that they more often did.
And women cut up a lot of meat, so they know what they’re doing.
