(The first thing to note about this episode is Barb Rausch’s superb, fashionable version of page numbers.  We lost so much when we lost Barb in 2001.  If anybody has any other illos or information on her, please add it.)

Winzig’s character has gone the usual villain road: slowly taking over the plot because no one can relate to the concept of the completely evil, and everybody, including authors, need to stand up for their friends or colleagues and explain their foibles.

Winzig’s part of my ape troop.  If I’m going to live with him, I need to understand why he throws branches and tries to horde all the nuts.

The first time the audience and I read this story out loud at San Diego Comicon, I was so busy organizing things I didn’t take into account how the guy who was reading Winzig’s first words would feel.  After an initial gulp, he bravely plowed through, while the audience gasped and laughed and applauded his courage.  You have to admit, it’s something of a shocker as a lead-in to a live theater piece.
