More than once you’ll see the Peach tear himself apart, literally.

I’m vastly fond of the very old cartoon device of the angel/devil. The tempting devil and forewarning angel is an ancient concept, as the two sides of our heads and hearts wrestle with themselves (oh, my, now get THAT image out of your head….).

Nobody wants to think they’re really seeing what they’re seeing.  How many times have you stood stock still, silent, eyes bulging, in an emergency as your brain attempts desperately to either file what you’re seeing in the right section of your head — or, even more intensely, build a whole new file?  A friend says my brain is steam-punk; you can see me stiffen, and virtually watch my brain lift out of one gear, move over, and drop into the new gear.  She did this once, with her hands covered with blackberry juice:

“Oh, God!  Donna!  I’m bleeding!”

De-activate. Disconnect. Errrrr.  CLUNK! Re-activate.  Spring to action: “Okay, keep your hands up, apply pressure here, I’ll get ice and the ‘phone — ”

“Donna!  It’s blackberries!”

De-activate. Disconnect. Errrr back the other way. CLUNK!  Re-activate:  “You asshole!”
