Sigh. It’s very hard to write about writing if you’re just a writer.
We’re — organic. We’re no more in control of what we do than — I dunno — a patient trying to express pain to a doctor. We’re not trying to get sold or attract an audience or anything. We’re just trying to talk about what we’ve seen, maybe keep other people from going off cliffs.
We can’t talk about structure or lifts or pacing or what came before or what is SUPPOSED to be. Sorry.
And most of us are terrible at anything else. Time and again I screw up with the business end of what I do.
Look: I can write and I can draw. It’s the only thing I do well or right. Anything else gets in the way. As soon as I have all my work up at Ka-Blam I’m just going to get back to work, including flogging to other publishers.
I’m only working with Robot Comics because they might make me enough money so I don’t have to worry about it, and I can just write and draw. So there.
