Udo’s not going to let Winzig get away with imitating the Old Man poorly. Udo’s the Peach’s orderly, after all, and there are standards to maintain.
The 469th does have some discipline. They like their second-in-command and will listen to him. He does his job, he’s more about the quiet admonition than the loud reprimand or punishment. The Peach had some say in his officers, and he wanted those who could make things happen without a lot of silly screaming. Screaming does no good in an actual emergency; better to have the men trust the leader and listen to what he has to say. All armies can vote, even surreptitiously, and they’ll do it, if only by their degree of willingness to obey orders. Grumbling in the ranks doesn’t win anybody anything. A bad officer can be a lethal liability, and one that can and will be gotten rid of: see fragging. This is NOT friendly fire.
