This is kind of why the Americans, at least, ended up just locking up the Germans in camps and letting THEM run the places. Sometimes we’d even ship ‘em to the Arizona desert or someplace in Louisiana and hand ‘em all the materials and let ‘em build the camps the way they wanted to. Which is why our prison camps end up looking like Stalag 17, too.

I have to be careful doing flashbacks-within-flashbacks. It can get confoosin’ — even to me!
The one thing about Rommel, at least as expressed in memories of him by those who knew him, is that he could be a very focused little man.
He didn’t seem to be too embarrassed about any area of interest, either. Happy in his own skin, so to speak.
