The Peach always acted like 1940′s women as portrayed in the movies. I’ve always wondered if, in this scene, he’s going over the top because it scares Udo, and Pfirsich is tired of not being himself. It’s so much fun acting like the Scarlet Pimpernel, and such a weapon, why would he abandon it? Besides, it’s so much fun. For him AND me.

At this point in his life, I think the Peach is still so off-balance about coming out, even in this place so distant from his own society, that he’s going through guilt over something so minor as treating himself to a beer.
That, or he’s afraid his camp will go to pieces if he turns his back on it for a moment.
Probably right about that, too. It’s when we’re in the middle of a culture war, even in our own heads, that we go to insane levels to try to maintain a more comforting level of control.
Or something like that. What? I was having fun when I wrote and drew these things. Trying to write a blog about the why and how confuses me as much as it probably does you.
