Yes, there’s a reason the Peach wears that pearl – and it’s not just because it’s pretty.
He, like everyone else then and there, couldn’t afford to turn away a love-talisman.

Glorious fun to draw.
Of course the hand-holes aren’t lined up. It’s just an excuse. All gods have excuses.
Day after tomorrow: either Desert Peach 22, Lady Luck, begins. Relations between the sexes in a military unit in a war zone. Nothing much has changed.

This was SO much fun to draw. I love afterlife scenes, because there are no limits, and lots of mythologies to mess with.
Buildings and clouds are fun to pile up.
As a kid, I watched a lot of Warner Brothers cartoons from the World War Two era, and there were a lot of jokes about living with rationing and how nothing was going to return to normal “For The Duration.” If you think our parents (your grandparents?) were all patriotic and stuff during that war, watch those cartoons — the one about the Little Man From The Draft Board going after Daffy Duck is especially telling.

By this time, everybody’s on Pfirsich’s side. If nothing else convinces them they have a brave and determined leader, this does.
And everybody hates pederasts.

Drawn book authors use various means of showing the passage of time in a scene. One of my faves is connected word balloons and sound effects.
I had great fun doing it last night on one of the latest pages for A Little Death.

When I did this issue, I thought it was garbage.
10 years later, I think it’s one of my best.

This is REALLY why I like lettering my own stuff. I can express every nuance of emotion and noise.

One of the times I didn’t have to collar a supergeek.
I have a Luger, and she’s old, and she jams. These days, she mostly just gets cleaned.
